Saving MIDI Presets & Setups
After setting the many things just the way you want them for your MIDI setup, it would be nice to have those settings in permanent memory. The KN5000 has three users presets that allow you to save your setups for recall almost instantly.
Press the MIDI button at the far top right of the keyboard to bring up the main MIDI menu.
Next press the MIDI PRESETS button.
Skip pages 1 through 3 and go to page 4 of the MIDI presets pages. This is the page that is used to store MIDI setup data to one of three user settings. These presets go to flash RAM and will be retained until intentionally changed by you. If you use a split keyboard (most people do) it is wise to include the split point in the setup.
Select which user setting you want to use with the VALUE button and select WRITE to save your setup to the preset you have selected.
Page 3 of the MIDI Presets is used to recall one of the three user setups that you have stored. Just select the setup you want and press OK.
I use USER 1 as my MIDI out setup, USER 2 for my MIDI in setup, and have not yet found a use for USER 3.
If you wish, you can save your user setups to a floppy disk for permanent storage. Press the DISK button on the far right of your keyboard. Then select SAVE. Select Technics format. Give the file a name like MyMIDI. Then go to page 2 of the SAVE option. Press ALL OFF and then select MIDI at the bottom right button.
All of the items listed should show NO except the bottom USER MIDI SETTINGS which should show YES.
Then press SAVE. You will have a file that can be loaded later to recover your MIDI preset setups.
